Inspired by one of my favourite recipes from "Jerusalem: A Cookbook" by Yotam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi, the mix of flavours in this dish is absolutely wonderful. Orange, fennel, thyme, mustard seeds and a generous dose of ouzo (an anise-flavoured aperitif) makes a perfect accompaniment to chicken, fish or even chickpeas.

Beef and Watermelon Sandwich with Sesame Mayo
Watermelon in winter?! I know it sounds crazy, but it is entirely possible and realistic. I was skeptical at first when the Watermelon Board asked me to make a winter dish using their fruit. Isn't a watermelon both hard to find and expensive in the winter? It came as a surprise to me that in fact neither is true- while it is slightly more ...

Potato Leek Soup with Bacon Croutons
Bacon is an ingredient that immediately suggests richness and indulgence. While I totally understand the appeal, I never crave it. I'm just not a bacon kind of girl (watch out chocolate cake, I'm heart-eyeing you!). Oddly enough, I've recently felt the pangs of wanting the smoky crispness of well-cooked bacon. So of course, I had to act!
