Hello! If you’re new to this site, you’re in the right place. Welcome to Cocoa Bean, The Vegetable. I’m Hilary, and I’m regularly looking to change up my cooking routine and create fun and feasible recipes.
I aim to produce original recipe ideas that are completely doable for the home cook, both amateur and chefs alike. I strive to be an educated consumer when it comes to food, so I try to eat as locally as possible and focus on sustainability. If you’re interested in any of that, please stay! If you’re not, go away.
(kidding, everyone is welcome as long as you’re nice)
When I created this blog back in 2012, I named it Cocoa Bean, The Vegetable. The name of my blog stems from my childhood when I had a raging sweet tooth. My charmingly devilish Aunt would tell me that eating my chocolate cake was like eating vegetables, as chocolate was made from the cocoa bean. I just loved that, and it stuck with me ever since (although my notion of what constitutes a vegetable has since evolved).
Before you head down the rabbit hole of recipes, I kindly invite you to sign up for my newsletter, which will keep you in the loop of all future recipes that are posted. You’ll only get an e-mail from me once a week, and never spam.
